The Rise of Glamping: A Luxurious Camping Experience

Is Glamping actually luxury camping?

In recent years, there's been a growing trend in travel that blends the serenity of nature with the comforts of luxury accommodation, and re-connects with your inner child. The “unique stay” was increasing in popularity in 2019, and the pandemic seemed to remind us that we DO love nature!  The hybrid model is called glamping, a fusion of "glamorous" and "camping."

Is Glamping Really Glamorous?

The term "glamping" may evoke images of lavish accommodations set against picturesque landscapes, but whether or not it lives up to its glamorous reputation depends on individual preferences and expectations.

For some, the idea of glamorous camping means enjoying the tranquility of nature while indulging in plush bedding, gourmet meals, and spa-like facilities. For others, the essence of camping lies in simplicity, where the focus is on disconnecting from technology and embracing the ruggedness of the outdoors without setting up your own tent.

While glamping certainly offers upscale amenities, including comfortable beds, electricity, running water, and even WiFi in some cases, it's important to remember that the essence of camping – connecting with nature – remains at its core. So, while glamping may be glamorous in its own right, it's ultimately about finding the perfect balance between luxury and wilderness.  There are so many different types of glamping accommodations that we dedicated another blog post to their distinctions.  Another question might be boutique glamping versus corporate? We go small every time. The intimacy and quality of people feels right.

My partner loves the outdoors, but me not so much.

Or vice versa!  As we all know, love does not guarantee aligned interests.  One enjoys starting a campfire from twigs and swoons over the perfect char from the camp griddle.  The other knows perfectly how to order that same dish off the menu and just what wine to pair.  Glamping is your answer.  Typically there are amenities like gas cooktops and nearby restaurants to back up that campfire option, in the off chance that light char turns to charcoal.   And wine, my friends, is plentiful when you bring the whole bottle.  Rest assured, nighttime s’mores and stargazing seems to be for everyone and will surely bring you closer by the day’s closing.

Convenience & Amenities While Connecting to Nature

One of the main appeals of glamping is the convenience it offers. Unlike traditional camping, where you may spend hours setting up tents and cooking over a campfire, glamping accommodations are ready-made, allowing you to relax and enjoy your surroundings from the moment you arrive.

Glamping allows guests to connect with nature in a way that traditional accommodations cannot. Whether it's falling asleep to the sound of rustling leaves, snuggling a goat, or waking up to the sight of a breathtaking sunrise, glamping offers an immersive experience that fosters a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Many glamping sites offer a range of amenities to enhance your stay, from gourmet dining options to outdoor activities such as hiking, picking from the garden, petting goats and enjoying the sauna. Whether you're seeking adventure or relaxation, glamping provides something for everyone.

Glamping offers a luxurious escape into nature, providing the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and outdoor adventure. Whether you prefer the rustic charm of a cabin or the whimsical allure of a round bell tent, there is a glamping accommodation to suit every taste and preference. So why not trade in your traditional camping gear for a more glamorous outdoor experience? After all, life is too short to sleep on the ground.
